Philosophy of Education
A Dedicated Place
At Cedar Road Christian Academy, Christian education is not
merely a communication of biblical and religious facts, but an inculcating
of biblical values and principles in an environment that is Christian.
This environment includes:
1. A people and place open to the Word of God and the Spirit of
God;
2. A place where people respect each other as fellow creatures of
the Creator God;
3. A place where people endeavor to deal with issues and challenges
in a biblical, spiritual, Christ-like manner;
4. A place where people will be truly prayerful and open to the
creative solutions of the creative God through His Holy Spirit.
A Nurturing Atmosphere
We believe the atmosphere of an educational institution is a key
factor in the learning process. We believe a rigid religious environment
conveys a negative image of God to a child and can have negative
spiritual and emotional consequences. A nurturing atmosphere of
love and acceptance best serves the needs of preschool and elementary
students.
Community Outreach
As an outreach to the community, Cedar Road Christian Academy may
serve as a door to other ministries of the church (i.e., children's
ministries, counseling, church services and events). Our witness
to the community will be exemplified by responsible care and concern
for children, integrity in all matters, and exemplary Christian
living.
An Open Door Policy
We welcome children from Christian and non-Christian backgrounds.
Families need not belong to Cedar Road Assembly of God or any church.
We recognize the diversity that exists in the larger Christian community
and will seek to reinforce and not undermine the Christian teaching
parents are providing. We recognize that Christians from different
denominations may share the same core values of Cedar Road Assembly
of God while differing on doctrinal distinctives. We will not impose
our beliefs or practices on children, but will seek to present an
understanding of God as loving heavenly Father and Jesus as Savior
and Friend, as a foundation for spiritual growth.
Christian Diversity
Teachers and staff came from different Christian backgrounds in
order to speak to the diversity in the student body, but must share
the core values of Cedar Road Assembly of God and Christian Academy.
Those who serve will be committed to building Christian values in
the lives of students through authentic caring, setting an example,
prayer, and quiet love and gentleness.
Academic Excellence
Quality education will be maintained through honest evaluation of
students and their needs; through curriculum carefully chosen to
provide a strong foundation in basic skills within a biblical context;
and through qualified and sensitive teachers who respect Christ,
the church, the family, and the children to whom they are called
to minister. |
