Policies
Nondiscriminatory Policy
Cedar Road Christian Academy seeks to serve everyone in our community,
regardless of race, culture, sex, or national origin.
Policy for Reporting Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect
We will follow and abide by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia
concerning suspected child abuse. We are mandated reporters of child
abuse and reserve the right to file a report, if necessary.
Attendance
Attendance is critical in the elementary school program. Classes
being promptly at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. Three late arrivals
will be the equivalent of one day's absence and will be calculated
at the end of the school year when total days absent are compiled.
Children who are absent for 30 days (15 per semester) during the
year will not be promoted. The administrator will consider extended
illnesses on an individual basis. The Academy will accept only excused
absences with a doctor's note.
Illness
Any child who presents symptoms of cold, flu, fever, or lethargy
should be kept home for at least 24 hours after symptoms have subsided
with proper medication. Children with contagious illnesses (i.e.,
chicken pox, strep throat, and measles) are subject to a doctor's
release before being readmitted to school or day care.
Toys
No toys are allowed unless requested by the teacher for special
days (e.g., Show and Tell).
Discipline
At all times, on school grounds, while attending school-sponsored
activities, and while under the jurisdiction of CRCA, students are
under school authority and are expected to conduct themselves in
an orderly, courteous, dignified, and respectful manner. If there
is disruptive behavior, action taken by a teacher may include, but
is not limited to:
a. Warning/Reprimand
b. Phone call to parents
c. Detention
d. Conference
e. Referral to the director
The director's action may include:
a. In-school suspension
b. Out-of-school suspension
c. Long-term suspension
e. Expulsion
Note: In no case will corporal punishment
be used.
